Local anglers to continue ‘Save Our Wild Brown Trout’ campaign

SAVING the famed wild brown trout and salmon that Western Lakes, including Lough Corrib, Mask and Conn, depend on for angling means much more than culling some predatory pike. If the angling industry in the West is to be saved a huge initiative is needed to ensure catchment areas such as the Clare River system are protected, preserved and enhanced.

This is the message from the Connacht Angling Council (CAC) after their recent AGM in the Anglers Rest Hotel, Headford.
Newly re-elected Chairman Martin Kinneavy told The Tuam Herald that they were happy with the support they were receiving from Seán Kyne, Minister of State with responsibility for Natural Resources who lives in Moycullen on the western shore of the Corrib.
