Carnmore teen in running for National Youth Volunteer of Year award

A CARNMORE teenager has been shortlisted for a prestigious national community award for his voluntary work over the past year.

Shane Lawless, a fifth year student from Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, is one of 20 finalists for the Pramerica 2018 Spirit of Community Awards, the only all-Ireland youth initiative of its kind.
The programme rewards post-primary students for outstanding acts of volunteerism and the positive contribution they make in their local communities and further afield.
Shane’s voluntary work was inspired by the death of his godmother who was only 36 when she passed away.
