Councils to discuss Tuam Road bus lanes in January

GALWAY County Council officials have assured members that the critically-needed bus corridor between the Tuam Road and Parkmore in Galway city is still very much on the agenda.

Director of Services for Roads Michael Timmins made the comments at Monday’s meeting, in response to concerns raised by Cllr Shaun Cunniffe.
He said that there was a great demand for bus lanes between Tuam and Galway, but particularly at this pinch point near Fleming’s Garage, where traffic comes to a standstill every morning.
“County Galway and the city are suffering, due to the lack of bus corridors.
“It has to be resolved, not shelved,” said Cllr Cunniffe.
