Tuam centre capable of 10,000 x-rays a year

NORTH Galway patients will have local access to public x-ray and ultrasound facilities for the first time next year.

It's been confirmed that the important diagnostic services will be provided at the soon-to-open Primary Care Centre in Tuam.

Importantly, funding is being provided not just for the equipment but for the necessary staff to ensure the services operate smoothly.

Independent Galway East TD Sean Canney says it's estimated that 200 x-rays and 60 ultrasounds will be able to be carried out at the Tuam centre every week.
