Award for investigator of Mother and Baby Home

CATHERINE Corless from Brownsgrove, Tuam, whose research led to the uncovering of the scandal of the Mother and Bay Home babies, is the focus of attention from several quarters.

Last week she was awarded the Human Rights Award of the Bar Council of Ireland, and she was the subject of a long article in The New York Times at the weekend.
This week she is to receive another accolade at the Newsbrands Ireland national journalism awards — a once-off award for investigative research.
The Bar of Ireland’s Human Rights Award is an initiative of The Bar of Ireland’s Human Rights Committee and is presented to person or organisation who has shown exceptional humanitarian service.
