Residents fear fatality at ‘horrific’ Belclare bend

MOTORISTS are playing Russian roulette on a stretch of road near Belclare where traffic has increased dramatically since the opening of the new M17 motorway, according to residents living nearby.

A motorcyclist was badly injured in an accident on the R333 on Saturday afternoon, after he came off his bike at a bend near the Belclare playground and GAA pitch. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and brought to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is one of many in recent years and local residents are fearful that someone will be killed unless the road is realigned.
