Abbey woman caught up in Vegas shooting is safe

AN ABBEYKNOCKMOY woman caught up in the shooting incident in Las Vegas has contacted her family to tell them she is safe.

Linda Dooley, who is based in San Francisco, travelled to Vegas on Saturday with her sister-in-law for a two-night break.
On the second evening the two women were attending a concert in the iconic Caesar’s Palace resort when a gunman opened fire from a nearby hotel, killing 59 and injuring more than 500 people at a country music event on the Strip.
Linda, who is married with two young daughters, sent a text to her cousin to tell her she was safe. She also posted updates to her Facebook page that she had returned to her hotel after being released from the hotel that went into lockdown during the attack.
Speaking to The Tuam Herald on Tuesday, Linda’s father Jim said he had been talking to his daughter before she left for Vegas.
“She was looking forward to the trip with her sister-in-law, as they head up to Vegas regularly,” he said.
“I got an awful shock when I heard the radio news about the shooting but she got in touch with one of her cousins who had texted her to see if she was all right. She’s back in San Francisco now with her husband and children and I’m expecting to talk to her later. Her mother is away on holidays at the minute so I’m not sure if they’ve told her that Linda was caught up in it all. But so long as she’s safe, that’s all that matters.”
