Tender approved for new Tuam Fire Station

THE tender to build Tuam's new €1.7million fire station on the town's outskirts has been approved.

Funding is in place for the new building which will be located on a greenfield site on the Milltown Road and which will replace the existing and outdated station on High Street in the town centre.

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon expects woris to progress quickly.

"Minister Eoghan Murphy has informed me that the funding for

this much needed new facility is now approved and no further obstacles stand in the way of the development of a new fire station to serve Tuam and North Galway.

This €1.7m investment will come as good news to local

people who need to feel safe in the knowledge that our fire services operate from a modern, state of the art facility. It's also good news for our fire services staff who work in a high risk environment and are deserving of an excellent base to operate from", said Junior Minister Cannon.
