Tuam priest honoured

TUAM-born priest Fr Kevin Blade, who has served for the last seven years in Ballinfoyle, Galway city, was honoured at a function in the Menlo Park hotel last week to mark the 25th anniversary of his ordination and his move to become PP in Leap, West Cork.

Fr Kevin was presented with an engraved piece of Galway Crystal by organising committee member Frances Egan, Castlelawn Heights, and Mary Naughton from Tirellan Heights spoke of the popularity of the Tuam native in the city parish.
Earlier at a Mass in Ballinfoyle Church, which was packed to capacity, Fr Charles Sweeney of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart spoke of how Fr Kevin had impressed people everywhere he has ministered during his quarter of a century in the priesthood. These places include Russia, South Africa, Texas, Liverpool and latterly Galway city.
