Primary care x-ray services a 'wake up call' for HSE

X-RAY facilities must be included in Tuam’s new Primary Care Centre in order to ease congestion on University Hospital Galway.

The €9m development, which is nearing completion, does not include diagnostic facilities in its suite of services, which Independent Deputy Sean Canney argues need to be added after the building opens before the end of the year.
The centre will be the base for GP care, public health nurses, home helps, speech and language therapists, dental services, dietitians, physiotherapists and other health care professionals.
However, the former OPW minister argues that the purpose of primary care centres will be defeated unless a full complement of diagnostic services are included.
