Monivea neuroscientist wins €1 million Brain Prize

A MONIVEA academic has been awarded a prestigious international research award prize worth €1 million for his outstanding contribution to European neuroscience.
Ray Dolan, 63, was jointly awarded the Brain Prize 2017 with Peter Dayan and Wolfram Shultz for their multidisciplinary analysis of brain mechanisms that link learning to reward.
Their research has far-reaching implications for the understanding of human behaviour, including disorders of decision-making in conditions such as gambling, drug addiction, compulsive behaviour and schizophrenia.
