Children at Tuam's new Irish school 'speechless'

When the 203 children at Tuam’s Gaelscoil Iarfhlatha moved into their bright new 12-classroom, two-storey school at Vicars Choroland, near Tuam Stadium on Monday they were “speechless” according to principal Colm Breathnach.
“Some of them got a sneak preview of what it would be like as they came along with their parents who were helping us move stuff into the new building over the weekend.
“We were so excited when we got the keys on Thursday evening and we worked from then until 7.30 on Sunday evening getting everything ready for the move,” says the delighted principal.
He added that they will have an official opening later this year but for now the most important action was to move to the new facility as the school had long outgrown its original home since 1996 at the former Community Centre building on Bishop Street.
