Shane Grogan with his family on Christmas Day.

Shane's Christmas at home boosts hopes for a permanent move

PLANS to bring Tuam assault victim Shane Grogan home moved a step closer in recent weeks when the 27-year-old spent Christmas Day with his family.
Shane sustained a serious brain injury in an assault in the town four years ago. He has been treated in Dublin and the UK over the past number of years but remains in Tuam’s Aras Mhuire community nursing home where he requires round the clock care.
However, his family welcomed him to his aunt’s home on the Milltown Road on Christmas Day where he enjoyed the festivities with his parents, Joe and Joan, sister Sarah and 16-month-old nephew Harry.

The move has also meant the family are moving forward in plans to bring Shane home on a more permanent basis.
