Toghermore at risk again

THE future of mental health services at the Toghermore campus on Tuam’s outskirts is facing a renewed threat.
It’s understood that the HSE is to hold talks over the coming weeks with patients and families in relation to the reduction of services.
At the end of December 2012, health officials indicated the 18-bed unit was to close as a result of safety concerns following a fire safety report. However, the huge outcry by the public put a stay on the closure.
