Plan to ease woes of rural commuters

LIFE could get a lot easier for thousands of commuters from North and East Galway into the city’s industrial estates, if new recommendations are taken on board.
A new report from Galway Chamber suggests bus lanes, permanent park and ride facilities, additional bus routes and encouraging commuting by bicycle.
The Chamber has just completed a survey of workers in the business and industrial parks in Parkmore, Ballybrit and Mervue. Over 2,100 workers completed the survey, and it was discovered that almost four out of five (77.9 per cent) drive to work every day.
