Second site blamed for deliberate delay to Athenry's new school

EFFORTS to resolve the impasse in providing a new school building for Presentation College, Athenry are due to take place today (Wednesday) at a meeting between Department of Education officials and Catholic Education An Irish Schools’ Trust (CEIST) in Dublin.
CEIST is the trustee body for 110 voluntary Catholic secondary schools throughout the country and the chairperson of its board of directors, Bernard Keeley, is due to address a public meeting in the Raheen Woods Hotel tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm.
The meeting has been called by the Board of Management who have accused the department of deliberately delaying construction of the new school.
It is understood a second site is now being proposed for the project, despite a 20.3 acre site already being acquired by the school since 2012.
