Over a year to wait for full ambulance centre staff

IT will be another year or more at least before Tuam’s Ambulance Base gets its full complement of staff.
The Tuam base is now providing 24/7 cover but it is still three people short of the 11 staff it is supposed to have.
It was intended that the base, which opened in November 2012, would provide round-the-clock ambulance cover, but only a limited service has been available until recently because of staffing shortages.

Tuam Cllr Donagh Killilea is also concerned that ambulance staff are emigrating because of poor conditions.
