Aideen gets to be a barbie girl

A HEADFORD schoolgirl who is thought to be the only known survivor of a very rare form of cancer has now become a leading figure for the Make A Wish Foundation.
There were times when Aideen Conneely’s parents, Rosie and Gerry from Claran, never thought they’d see their little girl celebrate her First Communion, which the pupil at Claran NS was thrilled to do last month.
In September 2010 Aideen became gravely ill, having been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS, formerly known as preleukemia).

Aideen’s dream of a lifetime was made possible through the Make A Wish Foundation when she and her family were taken to Los Angeles and Aideen became a Barbie doll designer for the day.
