Land league galway to help fight house and farm evictions

A GALWAY group will be formed this week that will work to help people in financial trouble deal with the threat of their homes being repossessed.
Land League West has active branches in neighbouring counties Mayo and Sligo and says the demand for support from people living in Galway city and county warrants a Galway branch.
The President of Land League West, Gerry O’Boyle from Ballyhaunis, says he’s been contacted by homeowners who have received seven-day eviction notices even though the finance company has no legal right to repossess the home.
“We have nearly 2,000 people on our database for the West of Ireland and we are inundated with phone calls from people asking for help and information,” Gerry told The Tuam Herald.
