Burglaries drop in the west but breakin season is upon us

THERE has been a significant drop in the number of burglaries committed around the West in the first half of the year compared to 2013.
However, Gardai are warning that with the arrival of darker evenings, the next number of months are the most likely for house break-ins. Birds might fly south for winter but in Ireland, many thieves and burglary gangs head to the West to feather their nest for the colder, darker months.
According to the latest Garda statistics, the Western Garda Region saw the biggest fall off in burglaries and related offences in the entire country for the first six months of the year, down 562.
