Over 20000 visitors will flock to sheepdog trials in glinsk

A MAJOR end-of-season boost for the hard-pressed tourism industry in East Galway and over the border in Roscommon has been predicted, as final preparations get underway to welcome up to 20,000 visitors to the International Sheepdog Trials, which take place in Kilbegnet, Glinsk next month.
Already B&Bs and hotels are booking up, as up to 6,000 of those attending the trials will be coming from Britain and around the world. It is expected that as the event date (September 12-14) draws closer, the demand for accommodation will spread out further into both counties.
