Fás workers to be enlisted to tackle county’s road woes

UP to 200 Fás workers will tackle the thorny issue of road maintenance throughout Co Galway if a plan approved by Tuam Municipal District Council is approved.
Drivers and pedestrians all over the county are complaining about potholed roads, crumbling margins and overgrown hedgerows.
The proposal by Independent Councillor Michael Fitzmaurice aims to address the ongoing problems with staffing within Galway Co Council’s roads section, which is unable to maintain verge cutting and hedge trimming along regional and local roads.
