End of an era as Tuam shop ceases television sales

A NEW era of trading at one of Tuam’s oldest businesses will commence this weekend, as televisions give way to fabric when McManus TV ceases the sales side of its business.

John McManus, whose father Sean started the television shop in the early 1950s, is to concentrate on the maintenance aspect of things and, from this Saturday, will no longer offer TV sales.

John’s wife Roisin, who operates her quilt shop to the rear of the premises, will expand into the main shop, ensuring that the family business remains open, albeit in a different format.
