Hairspray is all the rage this weekend in Dunmore

You Can't Stop The Beat' in Dunmore! After many hugely successful productions, including Grease, Oliver, Annie Get Your Gun, My Fair Lady, Calamity Jane, South Pacific, West Side Story, Oklahoma, and Fiddler On The Roof , Dunmore Musical Society will present Hairspray the Musical on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb 2, 3 and 4.

This 60s-based musical follows the trials and tribulations of Tracy Turnblad, a young dreamer who storms her way to stardom while tackling major issues of the day, including  racial discrimination and bullying. There was never a more timely reminder to keep these current issues centre stage.
A very strong all singing, all dancing chorus have worked tirelessly and their dance routines are spectacular. The cast is led by multi-award winning actor Martin Silke, who plays ... Edna! (Yes, you read it correctly. As you’ve never seen him before, Martin plays Edna.) Alongside Martin are a host of Dunmore Musical Society's stalwarts including Marie Howley, Joan Howley, Nicola O’Donnell, Ray McGrath and Pat Walsh (who plays Wilbur, Edna's husband). They are a great comedy act and will leave audiences in tears of laughter!
Hairspray highlights young and emerging talent and Dunmore is proud of its wonderful next generation.
