Shrule's Aoife shows in Dublin Castle

A YOUNG ceramic artist from Shrule, Aoife Frehan, has had her work selected for exhibition in Dublin Castle this month.

Aoife, daughter of Padraic and Miyuki Frehan, is showing two pieces, titled White and Wiggle.
They are part of the 40th anniversary exhibition of Ceramics Ireland which is being held in a new exhibition space, the PrintWorks in Dublin Castle.
The exhibition displays work by Ireland's finest ceramic artists, and Aoife's two pieces are in porcelain, a notoriously difficult material requiring very high temperatures in the firing.
Aoife is a past pupil of Presentation College Headford and a graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design.
On graduation she was shortlisted as one of the emerging new ceramic artists in the country when she was invited to exhibit at the annual RDS show.
She has also exhibited at Farmleigh House and the Pearse Museum.
In Tuam she is well known to customers of O'Toole's SuperValu, where she worked part time as a student.
The exhibition in Dublin Castle opened on August 13 and runs until Sunday August 27.
