Market day was later, but still fun

A WEEK'S delay may have contributed to a lower turnout at this year's Market Day during the Dunmore Festival week, but the lack of numbers didn't affect a buoyant mood in the town last Thursday.

The highlight of festival week traditionally draws large crowds to the town including an influx of visitors, many of whom return to the area from all over the world.
The decision to hold this year's festival on the second week of August, due to the fact Galway Race Week took place later than usual, seems to have affected the numbers in Dunmore.
“It seems to be a little quieter this year but then we seem to be clashing with the Puc Fair and another festival day elsewhere in the county,†said Tommie Howley.
