Ballymoe gives new life to the memory of Eamonn Ceannt

TWO trees will flower in Ballymoe for years to come in memory of the patriot and 1916 leader Eamonn Ceannt.
The fruit of a mountain ash in September will mark the month of his birth, and a May bush will come into blossom in that of his death.
Born in the RIC station in Ballymoe on September 21, 1881, Ceannt was the son of a policeman, John Kent, and his wife, Joanne Galway.
The Eamonn Ceannt commemorative garden is in the grounds of the Fr Flanagan Centre in Ballymoe, and John Martin Griffin of Ballymoe Community Development remarked that three great leaders were born in the village within 20 years of each other.
