Headford centre makes rural life all the sweeter

By Fiona McGarry

THE “twisting, turning, winding roads of Galway and Mayo” made famous by the Saw Doctors are among the loveliest in Ireland. One group which knows them very well – at least those inside the Galway border – is the Meals-on-Wheels team, based at the Solas Family Resource Centre in Headford. There isn’t much time for sightseeing on their 80-mile route, however. This service delivers up to 33 meals every day, over a four-hour run.
And it’s a real community effort. Frank Heneghan and his team at the Angler’s Rest Hotel prepare the meals.
