Galway student launches debut CD for cancer charity

GALWAY Transition Year student Laoise Nolan will launch her debut charity CD In The Pink on Saturday, May 25 at Monroeâ€â„¢s Live on Dominick St, Galway. Featuring Steve Wall and Jimmy Higgins from The Stunning, local singer-songwriter Stephen James, and Frank Kilkelly, this seven-track CD is a mixture of Laoiseâ€â„¢s original compositions and unique interpretations of classics such as Bette Davis Eyes and Sweet Child oâ€â„¢ Mine. All proceeds from the sale of the CD will go towards Mayo Pink Ribbon, a charity which raises funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NCBRI) in Galway. â€Å“As my mother, Kate, had successful treatment for breast cancer, I wanted to do something beneficial during my Transition Year,â€Â said the 16-year-old Coláiste na Coiribe student. Joining Laoise for the launch of the album will be collaborators Stephen James and Frank Kilkelly and there will be a guest appearance by Lucia Evans. Doors open at 5.30 pm. Admission is €10, which includes a copy of In The Pink.
