The weight of history

These men who are enlarging the entrance to the Knockma hill walk near Belclare uncovered a 19th century weighing scales on Monday. The scales, half of which is still under the road, was used to weigh loads of stone beingdrawn by horse and cart for road-making, and later corn and other produce.
