Two priests to be ordained
THE first ordinations in Tuam's Cathedral of the Assumption in six years take place on Sunday when Archbishop Michael Neary will ordain two men. The ceremony takes place at 3 pm. The deacons to be ordained are Eugene O'Boyle and Shane Sullivan.[private] Eugene O'Boyle, a 29-year-old native of Claremorris, entered the seminary in Maynooth in August 2006 after completing a degree in the University of Limerick. His parents are Mary and Eugene O'Boyle. He celebrates his first Mass on Monday evening June 4 in Claremorris Church. Shane Sullivan is 27 and a native of the USA. He studied for the priesthood for his home diocese of Duluth from 2004-2007 where he graduated in Arts and Philosophy. He transferred to Tuam Archdiocese in 2007, having Connemara links, his father being a native of Cill Chiaráin. He has learned Irish and will celebrate his first Mass on Monday evening, June 4 in Cill Chiaráin Church as Gaeilge, in the presence of his parents Kathleen and Bart Sullivan of Baxter, Minnesota. The last ordination in Tuam was in 2006 when Fr Patrick Burke, a native of Killererin, was ordained.[/private]
