Can the magic wood be saved from the bulldozers
Hello Boys and Girls, HOW are you all this week? I was telling you last week about the threat to the Elves' Magic Garden in the woods. The garden is used by the Elves to make potions and help the other woodland creatures and now it was in danger. Well when we investigated we found out that the woods had been bought by Bully O'Looney a man better not to mess with, if you know what's good for you. Our spy told us that O'Looney wanted to cut down the whole wood and put a horrible big toxic dump there. This was terrible news. The beautiful woods would be gone forever and the whole area would be poisoned. All the woodland creatures would have to leave and the Elves would be homeless. It took them thousands of years to settle in and it could take a thousand more to find a new home. Elf time is very different from ours, you know. We had to do something to stop this but what? We asked the local politicians but they were all Bully O'Looney's friends and working for him. They didn't want to know. We contacted the government but were told that the decision had been made and Magic Wood was for the chop. It seemed no one cared. Aunt Molly called a meeting in Rose Cottage and lots of friends and neighbours came. We decided that if the people in charge would not fight to save the wood then we would. Even better, the teachers from the local schools turned up. They were also worried. They were all very proud of the Green Flags their schools had won and didn't want to see an ugly dump where the lovely wood had been. I couldn't say anything about the Elves at the meeting because I knew people would think I was mad. Some people don't believe in Elves and that's just as well because you don't want the woods full with them trying to catch sight of one. Let me tell you, they will never be seen unless they want you to see them. The big bulldozers disappeared â€â€ Gone! Vanished Well to move on, what did we hear when we woke up one morning but the sound of big engines. We jumped out of bed, rang our friends and headed down to the woods. There was O'Looney and his men getting ready with huge yellow bulldozers to start knocking the trees. We formed a human chain to stop them and Steve Lane from St Patrick's NS sat in front of the biggest earth mover and it couldn't move him an inch. All the boys and girls cheered and clapped. O'Looney certainly couldn't begin that day. The Gardai were called and told us that we were breaking the law. We said we would go to prison to save the woods. Anyway, nothing happened that day but you wouldn't believe what happened during the night. The big bulldozers disappeared. Gone! Vanished into thin air. It was a mystery. Molly and I knew that the Elves were up to their tricks. O'Looney was hopping mad. He took off his hat and danced on it he was so angry. 'I have plenty of more bulldozers and I'll knock that wood if it's the last thing I do,' he screamed. That night Olin the Elf leader contacted us. He admitted they were responsible for making the bulldozers disappear but warned that it had taken up a lot of Elf energy to make it happen. He told us that we could not rely on it again if O'Looney and his men came back with more machines. He was very unhappy and feared their Magic Garden would be lost forever. We didn't know what to say because we feared that too. Something big would have to happen, and it did. But I'll tell you all about that next week. Bye for now, Uncle Jasper.
