FRANCIS McGrath alongside the memorial erected by local people in memory of the four students killed at Carrownurlaur. On the eight-kilometre stretch of N17 between Milltown and Ballindine there are fifteen 100kph speed signs, many placed at the approach to notoriously bad bends such as Carrownurlaur. Such anomalies are replicated throughout the county and country, Francis points out, and he argues they encourage driving at unsuitable and often insane speeds. He wants them removed.
