Della’s decade of tea dances raises ‘magic’ €1m for charities

CHARITIES throughout the Tuam and north Galway region have received over €1.2 million through a local fundraising campaign that is celebrating a decade of community benevolence.

Della Dolan, a hairdresser in Tuam, has been running the Sunday afternoon tea dances since 2007. She and her team celebrated their tenth anniversary on Sunday by revealing their collective fundraising total has surpassed the magic €1m mark, with the total raised standing at €1,256,393.
Two venues in the town have hosted the tea dances down through the years, which started out in the West Wing on the Galway Road and moved to the Ard Rí House Hotel six years ago.
